Best suited for: Hotel or vacation rental crate
Also works for: Everyday crate, if your dog doesn’t scrape to escape
Overall rating: ★★★★★
This was the first crate we bought for Chloe, and although it wasn’t the best choice for a puppy, we really liked it. It folds down and sets up easily, and two of its doors extend to the ground, giving your dog good visibility as well as ventilation (the third door is really a roof that zips back). Unlike the Creature Leisure Den, this crate has clips that secure the door zippers together, which we found invaluable. It’s a well-made and well-thought out product.
It wasn’t a great choice for a new puppy, since Chloe wasn’t yet crate-trained, and managed eventually to scrape her way through a corner of the main door, damaging the zipper. For a more mellow dog, or for briefer use, I recommend it wholeheartedly. It comes in five sizes, ranging from the Model n2 21″ (15Hx21Lx15W) to the Model n2 42″ (32Hx42L28W). On Firstrax’s site, the smallest size is pictured holding a terrier I can’t identify, but smaller than a Jack Russell (pictured in the next size up); the largest size is pictured holding a Golden Retriever.
