This carrier starts out as a backpack, holding both your laptop and your small dog, and once you get to your destination, it converts to a small enclosed crate, complete with a padded floor.

Toy breeds will fit best in it, especially in the compact and standard configurations, but when the carrier is fully expanded (16Hx15Lx16W) even Chloe could fit in it. It comes in black and tan.

I own another PetEgo carrier, Chloe’s beloved messenger bag. The company makes very high-quality carriers, and their prices are commensurately high.

  1. Hello, Simone! Thanks for your message. It’s a cool idea, isn’t it? It’s been a while since I hefted it, so I’m guessing a bit, but I don’t believe it weighs more than about 3 lbs. You might give PetEgo’s customer service a call at 1-866-738-3461 to confirm that, if it’s a dealbreaker for you. Chloe would just fit into the carrier when it was fully expanded, and at the time she weighed about 11-12 lbs. and stood about 12″ tall at the shoulder. She was certainly pushing the limits of the bag — it would work best for a dog about 10 lbs. and under — but she fit. Hope that helps!

  2. Hi! I am looking around for a messenger or front pack carrier for my cat. May I know what’s the length of Chloe? (from neck to bums). This is because I realized that although my cat is light weight, she is nearly 20″ long from neck to bums. I’m wondering whether my cat could fit into this because I wanted to buy the Pet Ego Xpack (similar to this but without the laptop compartment). Thanks! 🙂

  3. Hi, I’m debating between this and the Jet Set for my shih-tzu. He’s about 4.5-5 kilos. I’m less concerned about weight and most concerned about the support and making sure he’s got enough room to fit comfortably and stable. Do you think that he would fit?

    how big is Chloe?

    thanks for your help!

  4. Sorry, also considering the contour messenger bag, it just doesn’t look particularly comfortable to carry. Any advice would be welcome!

    thanks!

  5. Dear Myjoeycat — I am SO SORRY to have overlooked your question! I sincerely hope that I’m better organized in 2012. If the answer is still at all useful, Chloe is 15″ long from shoulder bone to rump (tail not included). She weighs 13 lbs. I would give the XPACK a try — I know your girl is long, but she’s very slender, and can curl up.
