I just checked this carrier out at my local Petco, and for once I don’t hate the fabric. The body of the purse is well-made and fairly appealing (I saw the red and black version; it also comes in pink and brown). There is a comfortable, removable faux sheepskin pad inside, as well as one of the two very small pockets the designers have provided. There are two small mesh panels, one on each end. They’re minimal, but since only the tiniest of dogs will fit in this carrier, that’s likely to be sufficient ventilation.

The carrier measures 15Hx19Lx8w, so to fit under an airplane seat it will either need to lie on its side (and the sides are not padded) or you’d need to squash the upper “ears” of the purse inwards and down (which will cut down on the already limited interior space). Another thing I don’t like? The shoulder strap is made of an incredibly stiff faux-leather — it looks awkward, and it’s narrow and rigid enough to be uncomfortable. Add a seven pound dog, and you’ve got a sore shoulder.

Also, what is with the D-ring that Sherpa always includes inside their carriers? Do they really think it’s a good idea to clip a bunch of keys inside a carrier with a dog? Especially one this small? There’s no other possible use for it, since you can’t connect a dog’s collar or harness to a plain D-ring.
