Pet Flys Carrier

Best suited for: In-cabin airplane carrier (Mini and Small only)
Also works for: Over the shoulder carrier
Quality: ★★
Price: $$$$
Overall rating: ★★

I ordered the Pet Flys carrier in the “Enter the Dragon” pattern and the Super size (19Lx9Wx12H), which fits Chloe but is too large for airplane use — the carrier doesn’t flex the way a SturdiProducts or Sherpa carrier does. It comes in two smaller sizes, both of which will work as in-cabin carriers: the Mini is 13Lx8Wx9H, and the Small is 16Lx9wx10H.

This carrier is solidly-built and thoughtfully-designed.…

United Pets “Soft Bag Jeans”

Best suited for: Bling, over the shoulder carrier
Also works for:
Quality: ★★★★
Price: $$$$
Overall rating: ★★★

I just saw this carrier at a particularly chic Seattle pet store called Urban Beast — one of the few places in the U.S. you can find United Pets carriers, it seems. The carrier is all-cotton, well-padded and well-made, but its main appeal is as eye-candy for your dog. The stylized dog’s head you see is a padded flap that flips over the top of the carrier to close it. It comes in two sizes: Small (10.5Hx13Lx7W) and Large (10.5Hx16Lx7W).

Best suited for: Bling, over the shoulder carrier
Also works for:
Quality: ★★★★
Price: $$$$
Overall rating: ★★★

From the back, this carrier looks like you’re carrying a teddy bear (though one without any features). Your dog faces forward, out the front. The carrier is pure bling, but it’s well-made and well-padded, and includes a sewn-in leash clip for your dog’s collar or harness. It comes in two sizes: Small (16.5Hx12Lx8W) and Large (16.5Hx16Lx8W).

United Pets products, and this one in particular, are a little tricky to find in the U.S. Contact…

PuppyPurse sling carrier

Best suited for: Showing off an adorable small dog
Also works for: Beating the heat
Quality: Unknown
Price: $$$$
Overall rating: ★★★★★

The PuppyPurse carrier is really a sling for your dog, with four leg holes. The sling wraps around your dog’s torso and closes along your dog’s spine, presumably with Velcro. There are D-rings at the neck and tail to which you clip two straps that can be shortened to go over your shoulder, lengthened to go across your chest, removed altogether (so your dog becomes a handbag), or half-removed and used as…
